At the end of a creative session of music composition, many find a dead end waiting. This is the time when the music we have produced needs tweaking or possibly a vocal needs special attention. A mixing engineer is required to take a rough draft to the final frontier of musical quality. Insomniac Studios offers a two day (3hr sessions), 6hr weekend of intense workshops that will promote the novice producer to a beginner mixing artist. Skill, passion and knowledge are integral parts of success. Our class is designed to open the door to self sufficiency and allow the user to fine tune his or her own works. Pro Tools is a time honored digital audio workstation that allows users to record & edit digital audio and midi, create loops, arrange tracks and apply effects. We take students through the two main windows of operation: editing & mixing and then move on to applying effects; from compressors to reverbs to equalizers. Our goal is to send each student home with solid techniques and user friendly tips to create a finished song. Other topics range from audio and midi signal flow. Midi controllers (keys and pads) will be provided to get everyone working comfortably. Our workshop is based on certified Digidesign Pro Tools curriculum instilling a foundation in the new age of digital audio & midi production. The blending of these areas is a must for the novice to professional producer / engineer.
